About me
My name is Moritz, I am 21 years old and I come from Munich, Germany. After going to school in Munich, interrupted by 6 months in Sydney, I moved to Freiburg, where I now live and study law at the Albert-Ludwigs University.
My biggest problem is that I am interested in too many things.
I can talk hours about exciting new uses of media, a great piece of design, but also about law or long distance running. Amongst the things that I enjoy are good coffee, going to the cinema in foreign cities and travelling by train. My trave-addiction corresponds well with my passion for learning languages, but horrible with budgets and uni-work.
Through my first attempts to better manage my curiosity I became interested in the world of self improvement (not the guru sense of the world), concepts for the future of work and behaviour change. GTD, The 4HWW and Quanitified Self to name just three buzzwords. From time to time I also write about these topics for Imgriff, a German-speaking blog by Blogwerk AG.
One of my most recent fascinations is about the challenges and potential that comes with growing urbanisation and our increasing dependance on digital devices that are connected to the cloud.
Being able to observe the growth of a discipline at a stage at which it is still so young and experimental, but at the same time of such importance and global scale, is something that excites me a lot. What is nowadays often labelled as ’the smart city’ or ‘the internet of things’ is a field that lies on the crossroads of so many disciplines that the possible scenarios just seems endless. Architecture, design, education, law, sociology, politics, technology.. The possible scenarios are as versatile as the people in a city.
About this blog
What I described above is also the topic of this blog. Basically all the things that fascinate and interest me.
Writing here is for the most part an attempt to structure my own thoughts. The fact that each words gets published just makes me care more, simplify more and hopefully understand more. My motivation to share is best summarised by this wonderful quote by George Bernard Shaw
“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.”(via)
The blog itself is an experiment out of sheer curiosity. Please, don’t take it too seriously.
Now that you’ve made it ’till here you can subscribe to my posts via RSS, follow me on Twitter, see what I read on Quote.fm and look at my photos on Flickr. My little collection of internet-fidings can be found at Thoughtstrudel.
